SSI Bangsaphan achieved accumulative 30 million tons of Hot Rolled Coil output on February 14, 2014. The Hot Strip Mill plant was established in 1994, with the aim to supply premium-grade steel sheets to cater for the region’s growing demand in various sectors such as automobile, energy, transportation and construction.
“This success is a result of our people’s relentless effort to continuously innovate in production capability and product quality. It is the first ever among Thai steel companies and it epitomizes how far the Thai steel industry has come. It affirms our belief that ‘anything is possible’ – in a country with no steel making natural resource, we can make a mark in the world by making good products and sheer hard work,” said Mr. Win Viriyaprapaikit, Group CEO and President of Sahaviriya Steel Industries Plc. (SSI).
“I would like to thank our customers, employees, shareholders and stakeholders who help contribute to this success,” he added.
In addition, according to Iron and Steel Institute of Thailand, (ISIT), the domestic steel demand in 2014 will be approximately 18 million tons, increasing 2.4 % from 2013.

โรงงานเอสเอสไอ บางสะพานประสบความสำเร็จในการผลิตเหล็กแผ่นรีดร้อนชนิดม้วนสะสม 30 ล้านตัน เมื่อวันที่ 14 กุมภาพันธ์ 2556 หลังจากเริ่มดำเนินการผลิตตั้งแต่ปี 2537 โดยมุ่งเน้นการพัฒนาผลิตภัณฑ์เหล็กแผ่นชั้นคุณภาพพิเศษเพื่อรองรับความต้องการใช้เหล็กที่เพิ่มขึ้นของภูมิภาค สำหรับอุตสาหกรรมยานยนต์ พลังงาน การขนส่ง และการก่อสร้าง
“ความสำเร็จนี้เป็นผลมาจากความพยายามอย่างไม่หยุดยั้งของพนักงานของเราในการสร้างสรรค์ความสามารถในการผลิตและคุณภาพของผลิตภัณฑ์ นับเป็นความสำเร็จบริษัทแรกของบริษัทเหล็กของคนไทยและแสดงให้เห็นว่าอุตสาหกรรมเหล็กไทยก้าวไกลมาเพียงใด และนับเป็นการยืนยันถึงความเชื่อของเราที่ว่า “ไม่มีอะไรเป็นไปไม่ได้” ในประเทศที่ไม่มีทรัพยากรธรรมชาติสำหรับผลิตเหล็ก แต่เราสามารถสร้างชื่อเสียงในระดับโลกได้โดยการผลิตสินค้าที่ดีและการทำงานอย่างหนัก” นายวิน วิริยประไพกิจ ประธานเจ้าหน้าที่บริหาร และ กรรมการผู้จัดการใหญ่ บมจ.สหวิริยาสตีลอินดัสตรี หรือ เอสเอสไอ กล่าว

ทั้งนี้ สถาบันเหล็กและเหล็กกล้าแห่งประเทศไทยคาดการณ์ว่าในปี 2557 ปริมาณการใช้เหล็กของไทยจะอยู่ที่ 18 ล้านตันขยายตัวร้อยละ 2.4 จากปี 2556
