“I am glad to participate in environmental awareness camp because it made me know about what areas in the school that can emit carbon dioxide (CO2) and its cause as well as environmental conservation. I loved the food chain base because from this base I learnt that all animals depend on each other, they cannot live if something is missing. I think that CO2 emission in the school should be reduced in order to decrease the greenhouse effect. I shall publicize this learning by posting it at the school’s bulletin board in order to urge my friends that global warning is not something that is far from us and anyone can save the world. I wish my friends could participate in these activities and learn about ecosystems as well. I would like to thank Sahaviriya Steel Industries Public Co., Ltd. (SSI) for arranging good and fun activities for us,” said Arraya Tang-arrayachon, an elementary schooling grade 5 from Thanakarn Omsin School and one of the youth who participated in the 7th youth conservation camp.
This youth camp was collaboration between SSI and the Office of Prachuap Khirikhan Primary Educational Service Area 1 which aimed to motivate the youth to take good care and value their local natural resources and environment, especially mangrove forest and Yang-na tree, which is a rare plant type, during October 12-15, 2011. The 104 students at elementary school grade 5, whose age between 11-12 years old from 43 schools in Bangsaphan Districts, Prachuap Khirikhan were invited to participate in the 3 day 2 night camping activities at Bangsaphan Kindergarten School.
The children have learnt about natural resources and environment conservation, both in theory and practice at actual location, such as forestry resources, mangrove forest, garbage separation, energy conservation and carbon footprint activity including how to purchase vegetables, fruits and cooking. They also have an opportunity to travel along the natural trace for about 2 kilometers in the surrounding areas of Paklang-aow Natural Forest Park to enjoy the forest ecosystems, observe strange and exciting creatures which signify abundance of forest ecosystems. After they took a rest at noon, they planted mangrove forests.
“I’d like to thank SSI to allow us to arrange good activities continually. Youth conservation camp has been arranged for the 7th year and this is the first year where the format has been changed to invite the volunteering schools to apply by having 5 students and 1 mentor teacher who must stay with the student all the time in the camp. Activities in the camps also modernized to fit the current conditions, for instance measurement of carbon footprint in ecosystems base which can provide some greenhouse gas reduction guidelines to slow down global warming. There shall be follow-up activities from the 20 participating schools as well. I hope that this good project can be arranged consistently,” said Mrs. Prapai Katekaew, Educational Supervisor, the Office of Prachuap Khirikhan Primary Educational Service Area 1, the coordinator of this camp.
This intention was also in the same direction for Miss Arinya Manoi, a teacher of Bangsaphan Noi School. She said that “I was a lecturer and mentor for this camp. I lectured about carbon footprint which is a new topic initiated by the camp. From my observation, I thought that the students have good learning skill and can assess this topic and they may be able to adapt it in their schools. There were 5 students from Bangsphan Noi School and they would have more knowledge on environment to further collaborate in their school which has many environmental projects. Bringing Grade 5 students to this camp can make them gain more knowledge and enhance their conservation spirit and it is a good supplementary to further develop their school.”
Youth conservation camp cannot only create the environmental awareness young generation to preserve environment in their communities, but it can bring about important mechanism on conservation participation, so they can coexist with our Bangsaphan for a very long time.

เอสเอสไอจัดค่ายนักอนุรักษ์รุ่นเยาว์รุ่นที่ 7 บางสะพาน
เปิดหน้าต่างให้หนูๆ เรียนรู้โลกสีเขียว

“ผมรู้สึกดีใจมากที่ได้มาเข้าค่ายนักอนุรักษ์ในครั้งนี้ครับ ทำให้ผมได้รู้ว่าคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์ ในโรงเรียนมีอยู่ที่ไหนบ้าง และเกิดจากสาเหตุอะไร แถมยังได้รู้วิธีการอนุรักษ์ธรรมชาติด้วยครับ ชอบฐานห่วงโซ่อาหาร ทำให้ได้เรียนรู้ว่าสัตว์ทั้งหลายมีการพึงพาอาศัยกันถ้าเกิดขาดสิ่งใดสิ่งหนึ่งไปก็จะอยู่กันไม่ได้ครับ และมีความคิดเห็นว่าน่าจะมีการลดคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์ในโรงเรียน จะได้ลดภาวะเรือนกระจก และจะกลับไปประชาสัมพันธ์ที่โรงเรียนโดยการติดบอร์ดประชาสัมพันธ์ เพื่อให้เพื่อนได้เห็นว่าเรื่องภาวะโลกร้อนไม่ใช้เรื่องไกลตัวของเรา และคนเดียวก็สามารถที่จะช่วยโลกได้ และอยากให้เพื่อน ๆ มาร่วมกิจกรรม เพราะว่าจะได้เรียนรู้ระบบนิเวศและสภาวะเรือนกระจก และขอขอบคุณบริษัทสหวิริยาสตีลอินดัสตรี ที่ได้จัดกิจกรรมดี ๆ และสนุก ๆ ให้กับพวกเราครับ” เด็กชายอารยะ ตั้งอารยชน นักเรียนชั้นประถมปีที่ 5 โรงเรียนธนาคารออมสิน บอกเล่าความประทับใจเมื่อได้เข้าร่วมเป็นหนึ่งในนักอนุรักษ์รุ่นเยาว์ รุ่นที่ 7 ของโครงการค่ายนักอนุรักษ์รุ่นเยาว์แห่งบางสะพาน
ค่ายนี้เกิดขึ้นจากความร่วมมือระหว่างบริษัทสหวิริยาสตีลอินดัสตรี จำกัด (มหาชน) และสำนักงานเขตพื้นที่การศึกษาประถมศึกษาประจวบคีรีขันธ์ เขต 1 ซึ่งรณรงค์ให้ทุกคนเกิดความรักและหวงแหนทรัพยากรธรรมชาติในท้องถิ่นของตนเอง ปลูกฝังจิตสำนึกตั้งแต่ยังเป็นเด็กและเยาวชน ถ่ายทอดความรู้ที่ถูกต้องแก่พวกเขาอย่างต่อเนื่อง ให้รักและหวงแหนทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อม โดยเฉพาะป่าชายเลน และไม้ยางนาทรัพยากรอันมีค่าหายาก เมื่อ 10-12 ตุลาคม 2554 ที่ผ่านมา
โดยเปิดโอกาสให้เด็กนักเรียนประถมศึกษาปีที่ 5 อายุระหว่าง 11-12 ปี จำนวน 104 คน จาก 43 โรงเรียนในพื้นที่อำเภอบางสะพาน จ.ประจวบคีรีขันธ์ มาเข้าร่วมกิจกรรมค่ายพักแรม 3 วัน 2 คืน ณ โรงเรียนอนุบาลบางสะพาน
เด็กๆ ได้เรียนรู้เรื่องการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อมในภาควิชาการ และภาคปฏิบัติ ด้วยการลงพื้นที่ศึกษาจากสถานที่จริง เช่น เรื่องทรัพยากรป่าไม้ ป่าชายเลน การคัดแยกขยะ การอนุรักษ์พลังงาน กิจกรรมคาร์บอนฟุตพริ้นท์ การเรียนรู้การซื้อผัก ผลไม้ และจัดทำอาหาร กันอย่างสนุกเพลิดเพลินอีกด้วย
นอกจากนี้ยังมีกิจกรรมเดินป่าในเส้นทางธรรมชาติ โดยระยะทางที่เดินนั้นประมาณ 2 กิโลเมตร โดยเดินทางจากวนอุทยานป่ากลางอ่าว ไปตามเส้นทางศึกษาธรรมชาติ เดินไม่เดินเปล่า แต่น้อง ๆ เยาวชนยังได้สนุกเพลิดเพลินกับกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้สิ่งต่างๆที่อยู่ในระบบนิเวศของป่าไม้ สำรวจสิ่งมีชีวิตแปลกๆที่ได้พบเห็นในป่าเป็นที่น่าตื่นตาตื่นใจยิ่งนัก ซึ่งสิ่งมีชีวิตต่างๆเหล่านี้นับเป็นดัชนีชี้วัดถึงความอุดมสมบูรณ์ของระบบนิเวศป่าไม้ได้เป็นอย่างดี และเมื่อถึงเวลาเที่ยงเยาวชนนักอนุรักษ์ก็หยุดพักบริเวณเส้นทางศึกษาธรรมชาติป่าชายเลน และได้ร่วมกันปลูกป่าชายเลนอีกด้วย
“ก็ขอขอบคุณเอสเอสไอที่ได้ให้สำนักงานเขต ฯ ได้จัดกิจกรรมดี ๆ อย่างต่อเนื่อง ค่ายนักอนุรักษ์รุ่นเยาว์ ปีนี้ได้จัด เป็นปีที่ 7 และปีนี้ก็เป็นปีแรกที่มีการปรับเปลี่ยนรูปแบบโดยให้โรงเรียนสมัครใจเข้ามาโดยให้มีนักเรียน 5 คน และครูพี่เลี้ยง 1 คน และในการดำเนินงานในค่าย ฯ ก็มีการเปลี่ยนรูปแบบเพิ่มขึ้น โดยเปลี่ยนฐานให้เหมาะสมกับยุคปัจจุบัน คือ ฐานวัดรอยเท้าคาร์บอนในระบบนิเวศ ซึ่งจะเป็นฐานที่ให้ทางโรงเรียนได้มีแนวทางการลดภาวะเรือนกระจก ทำให้โลกมีโอกาสร้อนน้อยลงและในการดำเนินงานในปีนี้จะมีการติดตามการดำเนินงานของโรงเรียนทั้ง 20 โรงเรียนที่ได้เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมค่าย ฯ และหวังเป็นอย่างยิ่งว่าโครงการดี ๆ แบบนี้จะจัดขึ้นตลอดไป” นางประไพ เกษแก้ว ศึกษานิเทศน์สำนักงานเขตพื้นที่การศึกษาประถมศึกษาประจวบคีรีขันธ์ เขต 1 ผู้ประสานงานโครงการค่ายนักอนุรักษ์รุ่นเยาว์ รุ่นที่ 7 กล่าว
สมกับความตั้งใจ เช่นเดียวกับนางสาวอรินยา มาน้อย ครู โรงเรียนบ้านบางสะพานน้อย “สำหรับในค่าย ฯ ครั้งนี้ เป็นทั้งวิทยากรและครูพี่เลี้ยง สำหรับหน้าที่วิทยากรจะเป็นวิทยากรในเรื่องคาร์บอนฟรุตปริ้น ซึ่งเป็นเรื่องใหม่ที่ทางค่าย ฯ ได้จัดขึ้น การเป็นวิทยากรในคาร์บอนฟุตปริ้นครั้งนี้ จากการสัมผัสกับนักเรียนจะเห็นว่านักเรียนมีการเรียนรู้ที่ดี และสามารถประมวลผลในเรื่องของคาร์บอนฟุตปริ้นได้และคงนำกลับไปใช้ที่โรงเรียนได้ สำหรับเด็กนักเรียนที่มาเข้าค่าย ฯ ของโรงเรียนบางสะพานน้อยมาทั้งหมด 5 คน นักเรียนจะมีความรู้ในเรื่องของสิ่งแวดล้อมเพิ่มขึ้นและจะนำไปต่อยอดที่โรงเรียน ซึ่งทางโรงเรียนจะมีกิจกรรมในเรื่องสิ่งแวดล้อมอยู่แล้วในหลาย ๆโครงการ การนำนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 5 มาเข้าค่าย จะทำให้มีความรู้เพิ่มขึ้นและมีจิตสำนึกในการรักสิ่งแวดล้อมมากขึ้น และจะเป็นตัวช่วยที่ดีในการพัฒนาโรงเรียนต่อไป”
ค่ายฯ นักอนุรักษ์รุ่นเยาว์ไม่เพียงแต่จะสร้างกลุ่มคนรุ่นใหม่ให้รู้รักจักสิ่งแวดล้อมในชุมชนของตนเป็นอย่างดีแล้ว แต่ยังมุ่งหวังที่จะสร้างกลไกสำคัญในการมีส่วมร่วมดูแลรักษาสิ่งแวดล้อมให้คงอยู่คู่กับบางสะพานของเราตลอดไป
