Successfully overcoming the global financial crisis and continuing strong growth, SSI hits a new record of shipment at 254,365 tons in February 2010. Posts top shipment among Thai steel companies despite difficult steel market and targets for 2.7 million tons production this year.

Mr. Win Viriyaprapaikit, President of Sahaviriya Steel Industries PLC (“SSI”) revealed that despite global economic crisis and difficult steel market, SSI successfully turned around from loss in 2008 to generate profit in 2009, and strengthens its position as the market leader of high-grade steel sheet in Thailand with the strong growth outlook. Latest, the company hit a new record of monthly shipment at 254,365 tons in February 2010, beating its previous record of 245,688 tons in July 2006, and is currently on track to meet its annual production and shipment target of 2.7 million tons this year.

Mr. Win said that, “The new shipment record is another step of the company’s achievement, with which we begin our journey towards SSI’s new vision – ‘Innovate premium value steel products and services for customer; generate consistent profit and sustainable value for stakeholders’. However, we do not pursue sales record just for numbers’ sake. But, rather, it reflects our relevance to the marketplace. Our real target is to continue to innovate to create value for our customers; as our product becomes more and more useful to customers, so will its demand. This is our purpose.”

Besides the company’s achievement, this significant milestone substantially delivered positive economic results to the Bangsaphan Community such as more income for the local logistic businesses, higher employment, 20% increase of the company’s employee’s overtime income, more local procurement and outsourcing value, more tax income for local government, and higher spending for goods and services in the community. Thus, the interests of the company and its various stakeholders are aligned positively.

เอสเอสไอเติบโตอย่างต่อเนื่อง หลังฝ่ามรสุมอุตสาหกรรมเหล็ก-วิกฤติเศรษฐกิจสำเร็จ ล่าสุดทำสถิติส่งมอบผลิตภัณฑ์เหล็กแผ่นรีดร้อนชนิดม้วนสูงสุด 254,365 ตัน เดือนกุมภาพันธ์ และเป็นยอดสูงสุดของประเทศสวนกระแสอุตสาหกรรมเหล็กที่ยังคงซบเซา มั่นใจแตะเป้าการผลิตปีนี้ 2.7 ล้านตัน ธุรกิจร่วมค้า ธุรกิจ-บริการ และเศรษฐกิจชุมชนบางสะพานคึกคัก เพราะมีเงินหมุนเวียนในระบบเศรษฐกิจเพิ่มขึ้น เนื่องจากรายได้ที่มากขึ้นของชุมชน

นายวิน วิริยประไพกิจ กรรมการผู้จัดการใหญ่ บมจ.สหวิริยาสตีลอินดัสตรี หรือ เอสเอสไอ เปิดเผยว่า หลังจากที่บริษัทประสบความสำเร็จในด้านผลการดำเนินงานที่กลับมามีกำไรในปี 2552 ท่ามกลางวิกฤติเศรษฐกิจตั้งแต่ระดับประเทศจนถึงระดับโลก รวมถึง ภาวะอุตสาหกรรมเหล็กที่ยังคงซบเซา เอสเอสไอ ยังคงความเป็นผู้นำในตลาดเหล็กแผ่นรีดร้อนชนิดม้วนของประเทศที่เติบโตต่อเนื่อง โดยล่าสุดในเดือนกุมภาพันธ์ 2553 บริษัทมีปริมาณส่งมอบเหล็กแผ่นรีดร้อนชนิดม้วนให้กับลูกค้าสูงสุด 254,365 ตัน และเป็นสถิติสูงสุดของบริษัทเหล็กของคนไทย จากสถิติปริมาณการส่งมอบสูงสุด 245,688 ตัน ต่อเดือนเมื่อเดือนกรกฎาคม 2549 ทั้งนี้ ในปี 2553 เอสเอสไอตั้งเป้าหมายการผลิตเหล็กแผ่นรีดร้อนและส่งมอบให้กับลูกค้า 2.7 ล้านตัน

“ นับเป็นความภูมิใจและน่ายินดีของเอสเอสไอที่สามารถทำสถิติการส่งมอบสินค้าได้สูงสุด ซึ่งเน้นย้ำการดำเนินการตามแนวทางของวิสัยทัศน์ใหม่ คือ “สร้างสรรค์นวัตกรรมผลิตภัณฑ์เหล็กและบริการที่มีมูลค่าเพิ่มกับลูกค้า สร้างกำไรสม่ำเสมอ สร้างผลตอบแทนแก่ผู้มีส่วนได้เสียอย่างยั่งยืน” เราคงหยุดไม่เพียงเท่านี้ เป้าหมายต่อไปคือ การทำลายสถิติและไม่หยุดพัฒนาตัวเอง เพื่อบรรลุเป้าหมายในการสร้างความพึงพอใจให้กับลูกค้า และสร้างผลตอบแทนแก่ผู้มีส่วนได้เสียทุกกลุ่มอย่างสูงสุด”กรรมการผู้จัดการใหญ่กล่าว

การทำสถิติการส่งมอบสินค้าได้สูงสุดนี้ ไม่เพียงแค่ความสำเร็จของเอสเอสไอนั้น แต่ยังได้ส่งผลเชิงบวกทางเศรษฐกิจให้กับชุมชนบางสะพานในหลายรูปแบบ อาทิ รายได้ของผู้ประกอบการขนส่งในชุมชน การจ้างงานสูงขึ้น รายได้ของพนักงานจากการทำงานล่วงเวลาที่เพิ่มขึ้นเฉลี่ยร้อยละ 20 รายได้ที่เพิ่มขึ้นเหล่าทำให้เกิดการจับจ่ายใช้สอยในสินค้าและบริการของชุมชน ธุรกิจต่างๆ รวมถึงพ่อค้าแม่ค้าทำมาค้าขายดีขึ้นทำให้เกิดเงินสะพัดหมุนเวียนในชุมชนบางสะพานไม่นับรวมค่าใช้จ่ายที่เกิดขึ้นในรูปภาษีอากรต่างๆที่เอสเอสไอและบริษัทในเครือสหวิริยาจ่ายให้กับรัฐด้วย
