SSI moved forward to ship building industry, after Det Norske Veritas (DNV), a world certified body of Norway, certified its products quality. SSI is the first and only company in ASEAN that obtained this certification which can concretely emphasize its market leader position of high-grade steel sheets in ASEAN that aims to create innovation and continual product development to respond to the needs of all targeted consumers.
Mr. Win Viriyaprapaikit, President of Sahaviriya Steel Industries Public Company or SSI, revealed that having hot rolled steel sheet of SSI certified by DNV, Norway, an acceptable certified body in world level, means another successfully step of SSI according to its mission of “Innovate premium value steel products and services for customer;generate consistent profit and sustainable value for stakeholders.” It also signifies our potential and capability in manufacturing high-grade steel in order to respond to an expansion to ship building industry which requires high quality steel as its raw materials as well as to respond to the needs of domestic and internal customers.
“At SSI, we place importance on creativity and innovation on product quality development on continued basis to increase confidence to our customers, consumers and all stakeholders. The reasons that SSI can produce high quality hot rolled steel sheet until it has been certified by DNV today are due to dedication and carefulness of our team on closely quality control throughout the processes – from upstream process to hot rolled steel sheet production of SSI. Moreover, this is also a sign to certify world class production capability and product quality with availability to expansion to ship building industry group and to confidently respond to the customers’ needs,” said Mr. Win.
Such high-grade steel sheet is an important raw material for ship building industry, particularly for structuring and welding works which put strong emphasis on high safety, so steel used must be strong and very clean in order to avoid any crack and imperfection problems of welding work, therefore inclusion should be as minimal as possible.
SSI is the fist and only manufacturer of hot rolled steel sheet in ASEAN which has received such world standard certification, as DNV is an acceptable certified body in world level to certify product quality to its customers. If the customers find any problems with regards to product quality, DNV as the certified body, has to be jointly responsible. This means that before DVN certified any company, DNV has to thoroughly inspect until it is truly confident in such quality. Hence, this is one of the specialty and credible standards of SSI certified by DNV this time.

ทั้งนี้ เหล็กแผ่นรีดร้อนชั้นคุณภาพดังกล่าว นับเป็นวัตถุดิบที่มีความสำคัญในอุตสาหกรรมการต่อเรือ โดยเฉพาะส่วนงานโครงสร้างและมีการเชื่อมประกอบนั้น เน้นความปลอดภัยในระดับสูง เหล็กที่ใช้จึงต้องมีความแข็งแรงและเนื้อเหล็กมีความสะอาดสูงมาก เพื่อไม่ให้เกิดปัญหารอยแตกร้าวหรือความไม่สมบูรณ์ของรอยเชื่อมประกอบ ด้วยเหตุนี้สารมลทิน (Inclusion) ต่างๆ จะต้องมีปริมาณน้อยที่สุด
เอสเอสไอเป็นบริษัทผู้ผลิตเหล็กรีดร้อนชนิดม้วนแห่งแรกและแห่งเดียวในอาเซียนที่ได้รับการรับรองมาตรฐานโลกนี้ และเนื่องจาก DNV เป็นหน่วยงานที่ได้รับการยอมรับในระดับโลกที่ให้การรับรองและรับประกันคุณภาพสินค้าแก่ลูกค้า และหากลูกค้าพบปัญหาในคุณภาพสินค้า DNV จะร่วมรับผิดชอบด้วยในฐานะหน่วยงานที่ให้การรับรอง นั่นหมายความว่าการที่จะได้มาซึ่งการรับรองจาก DNV นั้นต้องผ่านการตรวจรับรองอย่างละเอียด จนกระทั่งมั่นใจในคุณภาพจึงจะรับประกัน สินค้าของเอสเอสไอกับลูกค้าได้ จึงเป็นอีกหนึ่งความพิเศษและเชื่อถือได้ในมาตรฐานการรับรองของDNVที่เอสเอสไอได้รับในครั้งนี้
