The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Somkiat Chobphol, Ph.D., Deputy Secretary General of Office of the Basic Education Commission and welcomed by Somchai Sangsuwan, Director of Educational District Office.

To induce youths’ interest in English Language and to develop teacher’s knowledge and skills in the English language Teaching, SSI in conjunction with of the Educational District Office, Prachuap Khirikhan, Area 1 and 63 educational institutes in Bangsaphan and Bangsaphan-Noi District, recently organized a Youth English Camp or “Star1 English Camp” for 150 students at Western Hotel, Prachuap Khirikhan. Some part of activity was conducted by SSI volunteers to inspire student with confidence to use English for communication via English songs and game.

Sahaviriya Steel Industries Plc. or SSI arranged Knowledge Sharing Forum on “CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY IN BUSINESS CORPORATION” for Management and Manager on 21 February 2009. This forum was invited 3 experts from Department of Industrial Works, The Stock Exchange of Thailand and Bangchack Petroleum Plc. to share their knowledge and experiences on the topics of CSR-DIW, Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility of Listed Company and CSR in Bangchack Style respectively. The participants have learned and understood the importance of CSR and its implementation in order to ultimately yield sustainable business growth.

The acceptance of the works on the “SSI Steel House Contest 2008” has begun on the 16th -18th February, 2009 by the arrangement committee. Participants of this contest comprise of the professional level and the student level and the works have been submitted via the postal service and by hand at the Iron & Steel Institute of Thailand. This contest is the cooperation between Sahaviriya Steel Industries Public Company Limited and the Iron & Steel Institute of Thailand and also with the support from The Engineering Institute of Thailand under H.M. The King’s Patronage, Thai Condominium Association and Thai Contractors Association under H.M. The King’s Patronage.
