SSI UK awarded THB 86.85 million from the Regional Growth Fund to help train the existing workforce – and the 800 new employees we are in the process of recruiting .
Mr.Win Viriyaprapaikit, President of Sahaviriya Steel Industries Plc. revealed that Sahaviriya Steel UK Limited, A subsidiary of SSI who invest in Sahaviriya Steel Teesside, the iron and steel making plant in UK, has been awarded €2 million (around £1.75 million GBP) or THB 86.85 million from the Regional Growth Fund to help train the existing workforce – and the 800 new employees we are in the process of recruiting after the proposals in bid had been considered by showing that SSI UK can benefit to UK economy and create a thousands of jobs.
The Regional Growth Fund (RGF) is a £1.4bn fund which is designed to encourage enterprise, growth and jobs in the private sector and support areas and communities that are dependent on the public sector. The money will award to companies and partnerships who demonstrated how they would create jobs and a high level of private sector-led sustainable economic growth in their local communities over the coming years. The Government expects over 27,000 jobs to be directly created and safeguarded, with close to a further 100,000 jobs in associated supply chains and local economies.
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said” This money will now help create and safeguard jobs in some of the communities worst hit by the economic downturn. Today is a step towards rebalancing our economy away from an unhealthy overreliance on a small number of industries and a few areas. We need to spread opportunity across the whole country, drawing on our many talents. I know that with the right support these businesses can work with their communities and together play their part in leading the country back into prosperity.”
Business Secretary Vince Cable said:“Supporting job creation in the regions is vital if we are to drive growth in our local communities. We have received a large number of ambitious and highly competitive bids to this first round of the Regional Growth Fund, which will help a number of businesses across the country to expand and create thousands of new jobs.”
“The Regional Growth Fund is a competitive fund and we wanted to see proposals that created jobs in the private sector, in areas of deprivation and that is at risk of suffering from public sector cuts. I’m confident that the successful bids we have chosen will deliver on this.”

นายวิน วิริยประไพกิจ กรรมการผู้จัดการใหญ่ บริษัท สหวิริยาสตีลอินดัสตรี จำกัด (มหาชน) หรือ เอสเอสไอ เปิดเผยว่า บริษัท สหวิริยาสตีล ยูเค จำกัด (เอสเอสไอ ยูเค) ซึ่งเป็นบริษัทย่อยของเอสเอสไอที่เป็นผู้ลงทุนในทรัพย์สิน โรงงานถลุงเหล็กและผลิตเหล็กกล้าครบวงจร “สหวิริยาสตีล ทีไซด์ “ ประเทศอังกฤษได้รับการคัดลือกให้รับเงินทุนสนับสนุนจำนวน 2 ล้าน เหรียญยูโร หรือคิดเป็นเท่ากับ1.75 ล้านปอนด์ จาก The Regional Growth Fund (RGF) หรือกองทุนเพื่อการเติบโตของภูมิภาค ของรัฐบาลกลางสหราชอาณาจักรสำหรับการพัฒนาบุคลากร ทั้งพนักงานที่มีอยุ่ และพนักงานใหม่ที่อยู่ระหว่างการสรรหาอีก 800 อัตรา หลังได้รับการเสนอชื่อและรัฐบาลได้เล็งเห็นถึงความสำคัญของธุรกิจที่สามารถสร้างความเจริญเติบโตและสร้างงานให้กับท้องถิ่น
The Regional Growth Fund (RGF) หรือกองทุนเพื่อการเจริญเติบโตของภูมิภาค เป็นกองทุนมูลค่า 1.4 พันล้านยูโร ถูกออกแบบมาเพื่อส่งเสริมวิสาหกิจ การเจริญเติบโต และการสร้างงานสำหรับภาคเอกชน รวมถึงการสนับสนุนท้องถิ่น โดยภาครัฐ จะพิจารณาจัดสรรให้แก่องค์กรธุรกิจที่มีศักยภาพในการสร้างงานและนำไปสู่การเจริญเติบโตทางเศรษฐกิจที่ยั่งยืนของชุมชนท้องถิ่นนั้นในอนาคต โดยรัฐบาลอังกฤษคาดว่า กองุทนนี้จะทำให้เกิดการจ้างงานโดยตรงกว่า 27,000 คน และอีกเกือบ 100,000 คนที่เกี่ยวในห่วงโซ่อุปทาน และเศรษฐกิจท้องถิ่น
Mr. Nick Clegg เลาธิการคณะรัฐมนตรีด้านธุรกิจ อังกฤษ กล่าวว่า “เงินที่จัดสรรจากกองทุนเพื่อการเจริญเติบโตของภูมิภาค จะช่วยสร้างงานและปกป้องการว่างงานให้กับชุมชนซึ่งได้รับผลกระทบจากภาวะเศรษฐกิจตกต่ำ วันนี้เป็นขั้นตอนการสร้างภูมิต้านทานให้เศรษฐกิจของเรา ในบางอุตสาหกรรม และบางพื้นที่ เราจำเป็นต้องกระจายโอกาสทั่วทั้งประเทศ สร้างขีดความสามารถในการสร้างงานให้เพิ่มขึ้น ด้วยการสนับสนุนที่ถูกทางจะทำให้ธุรกิจต่างสามารถทำงานร่วมกับชุมชน และร่วมกันนำประเทศกลับสู่ความเจริญรุ่งเรือง”
Mr. Vince Cable รองนายกรัฐมนตรีฝ่ายเศรษฐกิจ บอกว่า “การสนับสนุนการสร้างงานในส่วนภูมิภาคมีความสำคัญถ้าหากอังกฤษต้องการผลักดันการเติบโตในชุมชนท้องถิ่นของประเทศ รัฐบาลได้รับโครงการเป็นจำนวนมากและแข่งขันกันสูง กองทุนจะช่วยให้ธุรกิจทั่วประเทศได้ขยายกิจการและสร้างงานใหม่มากมาย”
“การที่จะได้รับเงินจากกองทุน RGF ต้องผ่านการแข่งขันสูงในการนำเสนอโครงการ รัฐบาลต้องการที่จะเห็นข้อเสนอที่สร้างงานในภาคเอกชนในพื้นที่ที่จำเป็นไม่ได้รับการเหลียวแล และเสี่ยงจากการทอนความช่วยเหลือของรัฐ ผมมั่นใจว่าโครงการของบริษัทที่ได้รับการคัดเลือกจะดำเนินการให้เกิดผลตามที่มุ่งหวัง”
Mr. Nava Chantanasurakon, Vice President, Public Affairs and Social Responsibility Division, Sahaviriya Steel Industries Public Company Limited or SSI donated 40 second-handed computers to 3 schools in remote areas, namely Ban Borkoo School, Taluang District, Lopburi, Ban Eeatyai School and Ban Eeatyai Child Development Center, Srimuangmai District, Ubon Ratchathani. The objectives are to develop educational quality, enhance learning skills of the students and reduce barriers to access to information technology of the schools located in remote areas far from big cities.
