Dr. Maruey Phadoongsidhi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sahaviriya Steel Industries Plc, or SSI, received the Gold Medal of the Direkgunabhorn for rendering devotional services to the kingdom by supporting forestation project to commemorate the 50th anniversary of His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s accession to the throne arranged by the National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department. Mr. Suwit Khunkitti, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Ministry presided this presentation ceremony at Meeting Room of Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. Sahaviriya Steel Industries Plc. or SSI brought agricultural products from Organic Fertilizer Bank Project (Tambon Phongprasat and Tambon Thongchai Branch) and pesticide residue free vegetable of Substrate Culture Farm (7 schools) which was supported by SSI into “Mobile Agricultural Clinic Project” under the Royal Patronage of HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn on the occasion of HRH Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti ‘s birthday. This activity was held at Thanakarn Oomsin School, Tambon Ronthong, Bangsaphan District, Prachaub Kirikhan, presided over by Mr. Aphinan Chantarungsri, Duputy – Provincial Governor of Prachaub Kirikhan. He also visited SSI booth and was briefed on the projects by SSI representative.

Sahaviriya Steel Industries Plc. or SSI participated in “From misery to happiness of Bangsaphan’s Project” arranged by Bangsaphan District at Ban Morasuab School ,Tambon Chaikasem. In SSI booth the visitor will see the business profile, production process and technology, environmental management and corporate social responsibility. The objective was to present news and information which concerns with the company’s intention in corporate social and community to the people in Bangsaphan area and also sold pesticide residue free vegetable form The Substrate Culture Farm Projects. The activity was presided over the opening ceremony by Mr. Bongkarn Limprapan Duputy – Provincial Governor of Prachaub Kirikhan. 
Thai Cold Rolled Steel Sheet Plc. (TCRSS), a subsidiary of SSI, won The Thailand Energy Awards 2009 for Outstanding Designated Factory in Energy Conservation. Khun Wichien Tungsuknirundorn, President, recently received the award from Dr. Wannarat Chanukul, Energy Minister in the award ceremony which was held at Convention Hall, Chulabhorn Research Institute, organized by Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency.

Khun Win Viriyaprapaikit, President of Sahaviriya Steel Industries Plc. or (SSI) recently received The Thailand Energy Awards 2009 in the category of Best Management for Energy Saving ( Designated Factory).
